There are almost as many theories about the location of Atlantis as there are books that have been written about it. Despite these many theories, the location of Atlantis remains, at least up until today, a mystery. Each theory regarding its location is presented well, in most cases, and this book is no exception.One reason this book is being made available again, however, is because of the recent discovery of an ancient city in the Atlantic Ocean. It was found on the ocean floor 2200 feet deep and about 4 kilometers off the western coast of Cuba in late 2001. It was discovered by a group of Canadian researchers using, among other things, an underwater robot and modern sonar. Images recovered portray, in their estimation, a city that existed over 6000 years ago on the slope of a volcano. If true, this is the oldest city ever found, far older than neighboring Mayan cities in Central America and dating back 15 centuries before the estimated building of the Great Pyramid in Egypt. It may have sunk so deep due to the neighboring volcano or in immense cataclysm, but we must wait for more information, as of this writing, for confirmation.It is time to read this book again and explore the evidence for Atlantis in America. Lewis Spence wrote many books on ancient civilizations and was one of the best researchers of his time.
