Aesthetics of Religion : A Connective Concept Alexandra K. Grieser; Jay Johnston de Gruyter GmbH, Walter, De Gruyter, Berlin/Boston, 2017
This volume is the first English language presentation of the innovative approaches developed in the aesthetics of religion . The chapters present diverse material and detailed analysis on descriptive, methodological and theoretical concepts that together explore the potential of an aesthetic approach for investigating religion as a sensory and mediated practice. In dialogue with, yet different from, other major movements in the field (material culture, anthropology of the senses, for instance), it is the specific intent of this approach to create a framework for understanding the interplay between sensory, cognitive and socio-cultural aspects of world-construction. The volume demonstrates that aesthetics, as a theory of sensory knowledge, offers an elaborate repertoire of concepts that can help to understand religious traditions. These approaches take into account contemporary developments in scientific theories of perception, neuro-aesthetics and cultural studies, highlighting the socio-cultural and political context informing how humans perceive themselves and the world around them. Developing since the 1990s, the aesthetic approach has responded to debates in the study of religion, in particular striving to overcome biased categories that confined religion either to texts and abstract beliefs, or to an indisputable sui generis mode of experience. This volume documents what has been achieved to date, its significance for the study of religion and for interdisciplinary scholarship. ** About the Author Jay Johnston , University of Sydney, Australia and Alexandra Grieser , Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. From Communism to Capitalism : Theory of a Catastrophe Michel Henry; translated by Scott Davidson Bloomsbury Academic, Bloomsbury UK, London, 2014
"Both a unique witness of transformative events in the late 20th century, and a prescient analysis of our present economic crises from a major French philosopher, Michel Henry's From Communism to Capitalism adds an important economic dimension to his earlier social critique. It begins by tracing the collapse of communist regimes back to their failure to implement Marx's original insights into the irreplaceable value of the living individual. Henry goes on to apply this same criticism to the surviving capitalist economic systems, portending their eventual and inevitable collapse. The influence of Michel Henry's radical revision of phenomenological thought is only now beginning to be felt in full force, and this edition is the first English translation of his major engagement with socio-economic questions. From Communism to Capitalism reinterprets politics and economics in light of the failure of socialism and the pervasiveness of global capitalism, and Henry subjects both to critique on the basis of his own philosophy of life. His notion of the individual is one that, as subjective affect, subtends both Marxist collectivism and liberalism simultaneously. In addition to providing a crucial economic elaboration of Henry's influential social critiques, this work provides a context for understanding the 2008 financial shock and offers important insights into the political motivations behind the 'Arab spring'"-- "Both a unique witness of transformative events in the late 20th century, and a prescient analysis of our present economic crises from a major French philosopher, Michel Henry's From Communism to Capitalism adds an important economic dimension to his earlier social critique. Architecture for Psychiatric Environments and Therapeutic Spaces Evangelia Chrysikou, architect medical planner Ios Press; IOS Press, IOS Press, Amsterdam, 2014
Therapeutic architecture can be described as the people-centered, evidence-based discipline of the built environment, which aims to identify and support ways of incorporating those spatial elements that interact with people physiologically and psychologically into design. Architecture is an important factor in people's lives when they are well; when they experience ill-health and are less able to cope it becomes even more important. This book explores the design of specialized residential architecture for people with mental health problems. It sets out to show how building design can support medical and health related procedures and practices, leading to better therapeutic outcomes and an enhanced quality of life. Based on almost two decades of research, it aims to understand how architectural design interacts with the therapeutic milieu, the care programs, and actually living in the spaces. The book is divided into two main parts covering theory and research. Part one consists of three chapters: a brief introduction to old practices, current medical psychosocial and architectural thinking, and alternative thinking. Part two explores the research and conclusions derived from fieldwork. This book provides a fascinating insight into the effect that architectural design can have on all of us, but particularly on those with mental health problems. "Dr. Evangelia Chrysikou explains the many aspects of mental health and its relation to the quality of the built environment and I strongly recommend this very enjoyable book to anyone who would like to find out more about this important topic." - Prof. Alan Dilani, Ph.D. , International Academy for Design and Health "This book provides important, evidence-based data that will help to drive the design of new and refurbished psychiatric facilities and will no doubt become a highly-regarded resource for medical planners and architects." - Jo Makosinski , Editor, Building Better Healthcare

Fifty Things That Aren't My Fault : Essays From the Grown-up Years Cathy Guisewite G.P. Putnam's Sons, Penguin Random House LLC, [N.p.], 2019
A National Bestseller From the creator of the iconic "Cathy" comic strip comes her first collection of funny, wise, poignant, and incredibly honest essays about being a woman in what she lovingly calls "the panini generation." As the creator of "Cathy," Cathy Guisewite found her way into the hearts of readers more than forty years ago, and has been there ever since. Her hilarious and deeply relatable look at the challenges of womanhood in a changing world became a cultural touchstone for women everywhere. Now Guisewite returns with her signature wit and warmth in this debut essay collection about another time of big transition, when everything starts changing and disappearing without permission: aging parents, aging children, aging self stuck in the middle. With her uniquely wry and funny admissions and insights, Guisewite unearths the humor and horror of everything from the mundane (trying to introduce her parents to TiVo and facing four decades' worth of unorganized photos) to the profound (finding a purpose post-retirement, helping parents downsize their lives, and declaring freedrom from all those things that hold us back). No longer confined to the limits of four comic panels, Guisewite holds out her hand in prose form and becomes a reassuring companion for those on the threshold of "what happens next." Heartfelt and humane and always cathartic, Fifty Things That Aren't My Fault is ideal reading for mothers, daughters, and anyone who is caught somewhere in between

upload/trantor/en/Morris, Marc/Castle_ A History of the Buildings that Shaped Medieval Britain.epub
Castle : a History of the Buildings that Shaped Medieval Britain Morris, Marc Penguin Random House, London, 2012
Beginning with their introduction in the eleventh century, and ending with their widespread abandonment in the seventeenth, Marc Morris explores many of the country’s most famous castles, as well as some spectacular lesser-known examples. At times this is an epic tale, driven by characters like William the Conqueror, King John and Edward I, full of sieges and conquest on an awesome scale. But it is also by turns an intimate story of less eminent individuals, whose adventures, struggles and ambitions were reflected in the fortified residences they constructed. Be it ever so grand or ever so humble, a castle was first and foremost a home. To understand castles – who built them, who lived in them, and why – is to understand the forces that shaped medieval Britain. ** Review "Captivating and entertaining... More than just a study of architecture, weaponry and personalities, Castle pieces together a comprehensive overview that gives a fresh take on medieval and early modern Britain and the forces that shaped it. Whether ruined or intact, castles still have the power to fire the imagination, and Marc Morris leave you in no doubt why." BBC History Magazine From the Publisher Beginning in the 11th century, when castles were first introduced to Britain, and ending in the 17th century, when they were largely abandoned, Castle charts an epic history, driven by figures like William the Conqueror, who, by building and besieging castles, shaped the fate of the nation. At the same time, it is a homely story of lesser–known individuals and how their lives were consumed by the castles they built. As historian Marc Morris shows us, there is more to castles than drawbridges and battlements. Grand or humble, a castle is first and foremost a home. It may look inhospitable from the outside, but the interior is all about luxury and comfort: grand halls, massive kitchens, and lavish private chambers—all of which made these buildings ideal homes for their owners. To understand castles—who built them, who lived in them, and why—is to understand the forces that shaped medieval Britain.

upload/motw_shc_2025_10/shc/Abraham Fraunce, 'The Shepherds - Abraham Fraunce.pdf
Title: Abraham Fraunce, 'The Shepherds' Logic' and Other Dialectical Writings Abraham Fraunce; Zenón Luis-Martínez Modern Humanities Research Association, MHRA critical texts, volume 46, Cambridge, UK, 2016
Abraham Fraunce's The Shepherds' Logic (c. 1585) is one of the first English adaptations of Petrus Ramus's Dialecticae libri duo (1556). Preserved in a manuscript also containing two shorter essays on Ramist dialectic, the work was later modified and enlarged for publication as The Lawyers' Logic (1588). But Fraunce's substantial and almost exclusive use of Edmund Spenser's The Shepherds' Calendar (1579) as the source for practical examples makes the manuscript treatise a unique document revealing the influence of the Ramist reform of the arts of discourse on the new literary elite led by Philip Sidney and Gabriel Harvey. This is the first published critical edition of Fraunce's early treatise and the two companion essays. It presents the texts in modernized spelling, traces their sources and contexts, and draws out their literary and philosophical implications. It also includes relevant excerpts from The Lawyers' Logic, such as Fraunce's quantitative-verse translation of Virgil's Second Eclogue and its Ramist analysis, and a full catalogue of the quotations from Spenser's Calendar. As a whole, this edition sees Fraunce's pastoral logic as a first-hand testimony showing how scholarly training in the Renaissance arts of discourse enlightened the composition and interpretation of poetic texts. Zenón Luis-Martínez is Senior Lecturer in the English Department at the University of Huelva (Spain), where he teaches medieval and early modern English literature. **

Geek and hacker stories : code, culture and storytelling from the technosphere Brian Alleyne Palgrave Macmillan UK : Imprint : Palgrave Pivot, 1st ed, Place of publication not identified, 2019
Geeks, hackers and gamers share a common 'geek culture', whose members are defined and define themselves mainly in terms of technology and rationality. The members of geek culture produce and circulate stories to express who they are and to explain and justify what they do. Geek storytelling draws on plots and themes from the wider social and cultural context in which geeks live. The author surveys many stories of heated exchanges and techno-tribal conflicts that date back to the earliest days of personal computing, which construct the "self" and the "enemy", and express and debate a range of political positions. Geek and Hacker Stories will be of interest to students of digital social science and media studies. Both geeky and non-technical readers will find something of value in this account.-- Provided by publisher

upload/motw_shc_2025_10/shc/The Authority of the Saints_ Dr - Pauline Dimech.epub
The Authority of the Saints : Drawing on the Theology of Hans Urs Von Balthasar Pauline Dimech, Dominic Robinson Pickwick Publications, an Imprint of Wipf and Stock Publishers, Lightning Source (Tier 4), Eugene, 2017
Pauline Dimech explores whether and to what extent we may attribute authority to the saints, but also how we may ensure that it is the saints, and not the scoundrels, whose influence persists and whose memory endures. The thing that drives her research is the thought that history is full of examples of individuals who held positions of official authority that they did not deserve. Dimech is convinced that Hans Urs von Balthasar can help us clarify the issues surrounding the authority of the saints. Besides establishing Balthasar's involvement with the enterprise, this book tries to establish the theological foundations upon which the authority of the saints would have to be based in theory, and, possibly, already, however implicitly, based in practice. "Students of Balthasar, be they Catholic or not, in leadership positions in the Church, in ministry, following the baptismal call of the faithful, will find this book challenging. Dimech's work stirs up the pot already brewing through contemporary debates on Balthasar. . . . This book daringly advances an important area of research in Balthasar studies which it is hoped will stimulate much more debate and discussion in the academy and Church as a whole." --Dominic Robinson, SJ, from the foreword "Pauline Dimech has done something impressive: in the crowded field of von Balthasar scholarship, she has identified a key question which has so far received no sustained study. Many have commented on the significance of the saints for von Balthasar's theology, but no one before Dimech has given sustained attention to the vital question of their authority. This well-written monograph, then, represents a significant contribution to the literature, and should stimulate further work in the study of von Balthasar, and in Catholic theology more generally." --Karen Kilby, Bede Professor of Catholic Theology, University of Durham "An outstandingly helpful critical synthesis--sure to be a source of fresh insight not only for students of von Balthasar, but for all who seek a deeper understanding of the ecclesial context of theology and of the integrity of theology and spirituality." --Mark A. McIntosh, Endowed Chair of Christian Spirituality, Loyola University Chicago Pauline Dimech is a Lecturer and Researcher in Dogmatic and Fundamental Theology, as well as in Religious Education, at the University of Malta. ** About the Author Pauline Dimech is a Lecturer and Researcher in Dogmatic and Fundamental Theology, as well as in Religious Education, at the University of Malta.

A Brief History of Universities John C. Moore Springer International Publishing : Imprint : Palgrave Pivot, 1st ed. 2019, Cham, 2019
In this book, John C. Moore surveys the history of universities, from their origin in the Middle Ages to the present.  Universities have survived the disruptive power of the Protestant Reformation, the Scientific, French, and Industrial Revolutions, and the turmoil of two world wars—and they have been exported to every continent through Western imperialism. Moore deftly tells this story in a series of chronological chapters, covering major developments such as the rise of literary humanism and the printing press, the “Berlin model” of universities as research institutions, the growing importance of science and technology, and the global wave of campus activism that rocked the twentieth century. Focusing on significant individuals and global contexts, he highlights how the university has absorbed influences without losing its central traditions. Today, Moore argues, as universities seek corporate solutions to twenty-first-century problems, we must renew our commitment to a higher education that produces not only technicians, but citizens. ** From the Back Cover In this book, John C.

The Bloomsbury Handbook of the Anthropology of Sound (Bloomsbury Handbooks) Holger Schulze (editor) Bloomsbury USA Academic, PT, 2020
The Bloomsbury Handbook of the Anthropology of Sound presents the key subjects and approaches of anthropological research into sound cultures. What are the common characteristics as well as the inconsistencies of living with and around sound in everyday life? This question drives research in this interdisciplinary area of sound studies: it propels each main chapter of this handbook into a thoroughly different world of listening, experiencing, receiving, sensing, dreaming, naming, desiring, and crafting sound. This handbook is composed of six sections: sonic artifacts; sounds and the body; habitat and sound; sonic desires; sounds and machines; and overarching sensologies. The individual chapters explore exemplary research objects and put them in the context of methodological approaches, historical predecessors, research practices, and contemporary research gaps. This volume offers therefore one of the broadest, most detailed, and instructive overviews on current research in this area of sensory anthropology. Cities of Tomorrow and the City to Come: A Theology of Urban Life (Ordinary Theology) Noah J. Toly, Gene L. Green Zondervan Bibles, HarperCollins Christian Publishing (3 users), Grand Rapids, Michigan, 2015
Each day, the world’s urban population swells by almost 200,000. With every passing week, more than a million people new to cities face unexpected realities and challenges of urban life. Just like the sheer volume of people in the city, these challenges can be staggering. As with the height and breadth of our metropolises, the wonders of urban life can be breathtaking. Like the city itself, the questions and challenges of urban life are both sprawling and pulsing with vitality.   As part of Zondervan's Ordinary Theology series, this volume offers a series of Christian reflections on some of the most basic and universal challenges of 21st century urban life. It takes one important dimension of what it means to be human—that human beings are made to be for God, for others, and for creation—and asks, “What are the implications of who God made us to be for how we ought to live in our cities?”    This book is intended for Christians facing the riddle of urban creation care, discerning the shape of community life, struggling with the challenges of wealth and poverty, and wondering at the global influence of cities. It is meant for those whose lives and livelihoods are inextricably bound up in the flourishing of their neighborhood and also for those who live in the shadow of cities. Most of all, it is meant for those grappling with the relationship between the cities of tomorrow and the glorious city to come.

Global Governance, Conflict and China Matthias Vanhullebusch Brill | Nijhoff, Brill Academic Publishers, Leiden, 2018
Global Governance, Conflict and China sheds a unique perspective on China's normative behaviour in the realm of collective security, peacekeeping, arms control, the war on terror and post-conflict justice. This analysis engages with an Asian epistemological framework whose relational thought borrows from the context - space and time alike - that informs China's principle-driven conduct on the international plane. Through the lens of relational governance, this work develops a new theory on the relational normativity of international law (TORNIL) that identifies the interdependent sources that underpin China's international legal argument, i.e. norms, values and relationships. Without a fertile soil in which those conflicting relationships between share- and stakeholders can be rebuilt, international laws governing (post-conflict) violence cannot restore and maintain peace, humanity and accountability. ** Political Science Human Rights International Law Global Governance, Conflict and China 4 Copyright 5 Dedication 6 Contents 8 Acknowledgments 12 Table of Materials 14 List of Abbreviations 25 Introduction 30 1 China, Global Governance and International Law: Towards a Relational Normativity 37 Introduction 37 I China and the Philosophy of Science: Towards a Relational Thought 40 A Western Epistemology and the Conflictual Paradigm 40 B Chinese Epistemology and the Complementarity Paradigm 45 C Chinese Communism and Relational Thought 50 II China and International Relations: Towards a Relational Governance 54 A Relational Governance and International Relations 54 B China and the Forms of Its Relational Governance 58 C China and the Quality of Its Relational Governance 69 III China and International Law: Towards a Relational Normativity 73 A Relational Normativity and International Law 73 B China and the Creation and Development of International Law 78 C China and the Interpretation and Application of International Law 81 Conclusion 83 2 China and Collective Security 86 Introduction 86 I China and the Prohibition of Aggression 91 A China and the War of Resistance against Japan 91 B China and the Korean War 97 C China and the Principle of Mutual Non-aggression 104 II China and the Right of Self-Defence 118 A Individual Self-Defence 119 B Collective Self-Defence 129 C Pre-emptive Self-Defence 133 III China and the Expanding Grounds on the Use of Force 136 A From Collective to Human Security 136 B Humanitarian Intervention 140 C Responsibility to Protect 145 Conclusion 153 3 China and Peacekeeping 155 Introduction 155 I China and the Principle of Non-interference 161 A Security Council Authorisation 161 B Consent of the Parties 167 C Regional Action 176 II China and the Principle of Impartiality 185 III China and the Use of Force 192 Conclusion 200 4 China and Arms Control 203 Introduction 203 I China and the Principle of Sovereign Equality 216 A National Security 216 B Economic Security 229 II China and the Principle of Non-proliferation 238 A Prevention 238 B Supervision 246 C Disarmament 256 III China and the Principle of Humanity 270 A Prohibited Use 270 B Restricted Use 277 Conclusion 282 5 China and the War on Terror 285 Introduction 285 I China and the Principle of Non-interference 296 II China and the Principle of Non-proliferation 307 III China and the Principle of Humanity 311 Conclusion 316 6 China and Post-conflict Justice 318 Introduction 318 I China and the Principle of Judicial Sovereignty 329 II China and the Principle of Primacy 358 III China and the Principle of Complementarity 365 A Negotiating the Rome Statute 365 B Prosecution of Nationals of Non-ICC Members 366 C The Proprio Motu Powers of the ICC Prosecutor 378 Conclusion 381 Conclusion 383 I Global Governance, Conflict and … the Holy Trinity 383 II Through Consultation and Process 385 III Guided by Principles and Consensus 387 Bibliography 392 Author Index 448 Subject Index 458

Technomad: Global Raving Countercultures (studies In Popular Music) Graham St. John Equinox Publishing (Indonesia), Studies in Popular Music, 1, 2009
<p>A cultural history of global electronic dance music countercultures, Technomad explores the pleasurable and activist trajectories of post-rave. The book documents an emerging network of techno-tribes, exploring their pleasure principles and cultural politics. Attending to sound system culture, electro-humanitarianism, secret sonic societies, teknivals and other gatherings, intentional parties, revitalisation movements and counter-colonial interventions, Technomad investigates how the dance party has been harnessed for transgressive and progressive ends, for manifold freedoms. Seeking freedom from moral prohibitions and standards, pleasure in rebellion, refuge from sexual and gender prejudice, exile from oppression, rupturing aesthetic boundaries, re-enchanting the world, reclaiming space, fighting for "the right to party", and responding to a host of critical concerns, electronic dance music cultures are multivalent sites of resistance. Drawing on extensive ethnographic, netogaphic and documentary research, Technomad details the post-rave trajectory through various local sites and global scenes, with each chapter attending to unique developments in the techno counterculture&#58; e.g. Spiral Tribe, teknivals, psytrance, Burning Man, Reclaim the Streets, Earthdream. The book offers an original nuanced theory of resistance to assist understanding of these developments. This cultural history of hitherto uncharted territory will be of interest to students of cultural, performance, music, media, and new social movement studies, along with enthusiasts of dance culture and popular politics.</p>

The subjective object : [Ausstellung ... Von der (Wieder- )Aneignung anthropologischer Bilder ; 21. Juni bis 26. August 2012, GRASSI Museum für Völkerkunde zu Leipzig ; ein Projekt von "Kulturen des Kuratorischen" an der Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst, Leipzig Anna-Sophie Springer; Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig Weiterbildender Masterstudiengang Kulturen des Kuratorischen K. Verlag/Press, Berlin, 2012
The Subjective Object engages with the controversial site of the ethnographic museum and the role of the archive. In particular, the 1920’s photographic archive of Indigenous tribes from India by the German physical anthropologist and racist theorist Egon von Eickstedt (1892–1965) serves as a case study for an investigation into the role of historical artifacts in light of contemporary political situations. The nine interviews with curators, artists, anthropologists, and social workers provide the core of the book actively discussing the complicated issues around the archive’s function in producing knowledge. An annotated thread of images serves as a critical apparatus addressing the visual history of ethnographic display and classification practices—both in the scientific field as well as the cultural field at large. Questioning the assumption that the archive presents the “fact” of the “Other,” three literary texts counterpoint the inherent fantasies within scientific research. Just as the book begins with an archive—the Eickstedt photos—the book ends with a new archive—photos of the exhibition The Subjective Object—(Re)Appropriating Anthropological Images at the GRASSI Ethnographic Museum of Leipzig—illustrating the project’s desire to not only engage with the history of display but also to propose a future of display strategies and social engagement. Published on the occasion of the exhibition The Subjective Object – Von der (Wieder-)Aneignung anthropologischer Bilder , GRASSI Museum für Völkerkunde zu Leipzig (June to August 2012) curated by Nicola Beißner, Anna Dobrucki, Anna Jehle, Julia Kurz, Anja Lückenkemper, Barbara Mahlknecht, Katja Thekla Meyer, Ksenija Orelj, Katharina Schniebs, Nefeli Skarmea, Anna-Sophie Springer, Edda Wilde, and Olga Wostrezowa. Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs: JavaScript Edition (MIT Electrical Engineering and Computer Science) Harold Abelson; Gerald Jay Sussman; Martin Henz; Tobias Wrigstad The MIT Press, MIT Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Ser, JavaScript Edition, Cambridge, Massachusetts, 2022
A new version of the classic and widely used text adapted for the JavaScript programming language. Since the publication of its first edition in 1984 and its second edition in 1996, Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs (SICP) has influenced computer science curricula around the world. Widely adopted as a textbook, the book has its origins in a popular entry-level computer science course taught by Harold Abelson and Gerald Jay Sussman at MIT. SICP introduces the reader to central ideas of computation by establishing a series of mental models for computation. Earlier editions used the programming language Scheme in their program examples. This new version of the second edition has been adapted for JavaScript.   The first three chapters of SICP cover programming concepts that are common to all modern high-level programming languages. Chapters four and five, which used Scheme to formulate language processors for Scheme, required significant revision. Chapter four offers new material, in particular an introduction to the notion of program parsing. The evaluator and compiler in chapter five introduce a subtle stack discipline to support return statements (a prominent feature of statement-oriented languages) without sacrificing tail recursion.   The JavaScript programs included in the book run in any implementation of the language that complies with the ECMAScript 2020 specification, using the JavaScript package sicp provided by the MIT Press website.

Reasons From Within : Desires and Values Alan H. Goldman Oxford University Press; Oxford University Press, USA, Oxford University Press USA, Oxford, 2009
Do the reasons we have for acting as we do derive from our concerns and desires, or are there objective values in the world that we are rationally required to pursue and protect? Alan H. Goldman argues for the internalist or subjectivist view of practical reasons on the grounds that it is simpler, more unified, and more comprehensible than the rival objectivist position. He provides a naturalistic account of practical rationality in terms of coherence within sets of desires or motivational states, and between motivations, intentions, and actions. Coherence is defined as the avoidance of self-defeat, the defeat of one's own deepest concerns. The demand for coherence underlies both practical and theoretical reason and derives from the natural aims of belief and action. In clarifying which desires create reasons, drawing on the literature of cognitive psychology, Goldman offers conceptual analyses of desires, emotions, and attitudes. Reasons are seen to derive ultimately from our deepest occurrent concerns. These concerns require no reasons themselves but provide reasons for many more superficial desires. In defense of this theory, Goldman argues that rational agents need not be morally motivated or concerned for their narrow self-interest. Objective values would demand such concern. They would be independent of our desires but would provide reasons for us to pursue and protect them. They would require rational agents to be motivated by them. But, Goldman argues, we are not motivated in that way, and it makes no sense to demand that our informed and coherent desires be generally other than they are. We need not appeal to such objective values in order to explain how our lives can be good and meaningful. Reasons from Within will appeal to anyone interested in the nature of values and reasons, particularly students of philosophy, psychology, and decision theory.

Nocturnal Fabulations: Ecology, Vitality and Opacity in the Cinema of Apichatpong Weerasethakul (Immediations) Érik Bordeleau; Toni Pape; Ronald Rose-Antoinette; Adam Szymański; Toni Pape, Ronald Rose-Antoinette and Adam Szymanski Erik Bordeleau Open Humanities Press, Free online access: OAPEN, London, 2017
Nocturnal Fabulations is an essay in intercessing. This is not a book that is simply 'about' Apichatpong Weerasethakul, though it does engage his work in detail. It is a book that deeply questions what else might be at stake in setting up the conditions for collaboration across two genres - cinema and writing. This collective project by Érik Bordeleau, Toni Pape, Ronald Rose-Antoinette and Adam Szymanski is animated by a shared curiosity in the pragmatics of fabulation and its speculative gesture of bringing forth a people to come. In an encounter with Apichatpong's cinematic dreamscape, the concepts of ecology, vitality and opacity emerge to articulate an ethos of fabulation that deframes experience, recomposes subjectivity and unfixes time. **

R. Edward Freeman's Selected Works on Stakeholder Theory and Business Ethics Dmytriyev, Sergiy D.; Freeman, R. Edward Springer International Publishing, Issues in Business Ethics, 2023
Ed Freeman's influential ideas on stakeholder theory, business ethics, humanities, and capitalism became foundational in the management field and turned around the mainstream thinking about business. Stakeholder theory developed by Freeman and others posits that business is not as much about profits, but rather about creating value for its stakeholders, including employees, customers, communities, financiers, and suppliers. The relationship between a company and its stakeholders is the essence of business and should be of utmost attention to its managers. Managers should avoid resorting to trade-offs by prioritizing one stakeholder group (e.g., shareholders) over the others and strive to run their companies in the interests of all stakeholders. The idea of pursuing the interests of all stakeholders became revolutionary in management and went far beyond the management field, expanding to Law, Health Care, Education, Public Policy and Administration, and Environmental Policy. This book is a collection of Ed Freeman's most influential and important works on stakeholder theory as well as business ethics, humanities, and capitalism.
